Am I A Biased Gaming sellout? Probably.
Hello Loyal Followers / Bloggers / Gamers,
First I want to apologize for my lack of content lately. It has been a really long month of no real major releases and I have been quite busy with a lot of personal stuff with my life, making a lot of good changes so I can thus pro long and continue to make content for YOU my lovely audience. That and last month out at work was quite busy, however not going to bore you with the small details. Just know I am still here, and happy to do so, and talking about my favorite subject gaming.
This would really be more of an update if anything but the real meat and potatoes of this particular blog is going to be circling around one thing. I am talking about Gamers, and this whole “Gamergate” scandal that is affecting my community of gaming. So I do not know all of the details whatsoever and I would really really appreciate no hate mongering on this, we already have enough of this going around. I am no expert and from what I do know it seems like a bunch of crap and people dragging their own personal lives into something and it seems that one bad apple spoils the whole bunch kind of theory. Again I don’t know everything and I honestly probably shouldn’t even bring it up, but it is something I feel quite strongly about.
It seems as though with this scandal called “Gamergate” they are saying that Gamers are a dying breed and there is a whole bunch of corruption with reviewers and developers, YouTubers, bloggers, etc. So with that being said I just want to start with the proverbial, “No, Shit” remark. This has been going on since probably really the beginning of the “gaming journalists”. I mean honestly of course there is biased in gaming. Everything we critique on gaming is just an opinion. I am not saying all are corrupted and easily persuaded by the thought of money or swag, it is not my place whatsoever to make any judgements or rank anybody’s credibility, character, or moral integrity. The same thing happened not so long ago to Adam Sessler, granted the guy is goofy, but he was a good gamer and gave his opinions, and it seems that though when that happened some person along the way got but hurt by his opinion and started this outcry that honestly was not called for. I felt bad for Sessler, and when he called people out on their bullshit I applauded him for sticking to his guns. I digress, because this blog is about me.
Now with all this being called into question, I am sure you’re wondering am I going to say things like, “I’m not biased, everything I say is fact!” or “I am not a sellout I don’t make a dime off this blog”. Short answer is No. I am just a simple nerd, gamer. I love gaming, I love the culture, and I love to share my opinion on gaming. But in the end it is exactly that my opinion, not to be interpreted as fact. If you ask if I am biased, absolutely. I love Nintendo to the core, in my eyes and if you have been following or reading my blog they can do no wrong on a lot of things, and I trust them and I back them 110%. So if Nintendo does something I am already supportive of their decision, good bad or indifferent. If a developer were to contact me (Please Do!!!!) to play their game before anyone else and review it. Yea I will take it and probably would be somewhat biased because they chose me to play their game over others, and I will probably give it a somewhat decent review unless it is something that is totally god awful, and everyone agrees it’s totally god awful. If anything is to happen and I become somewhat of a good gaming blogger and I start making this my source of income and career a lot of people will probably call me a sellout. Well let me paraphrase Kevin Smith when I say this, Of course I am a sellout. The second I started doing this and the second I made a dollar off of this I sold out. If I was a real “artist” it would just be something I share with my friends and keep under lock and key and watch once a year. I will totally sellout my blog and write for a major company or banner and have them pay for my games to review them or play them or talk about them. Why because it’s something I love doing and I would love to get paid to do what I do just for fun. Isn’t that kind of life’s goal do something you love and get paid to do it, if at all possible?
There also some people who may not agree with my opinion, I have already accepted that, it is just my role to make an opinion on something and show you how and why I feel this way. Hopefully you identify with it and give it a like and maybe I can have you play a good game that maybe you were on the fence with. If you find it wrong, just believe that maybe I am wrong but you have to respect my opinion, I have been gaming for 25 years so I kinda know my stuff to a certain extent. If you felt that I have wronged you I do apologize I have no ill intentions whatsoever. But I will not apologize for my opinion though, not in the slightest.
Then finally there are a lot of articles circulating around on a lot of major gaming websites about how gamers are “dead”. No, we are not a dying breed. We are here to stay we are growing constantly. I don’t understand why so-called “gamers” who are writing these articles saying bad things about their own community. I mean no community is perfect whatsoever whether its gaming, or sports, or religious. You are always going to have those people who give your community a bad name. But as a community we should be promoting that we are all not bad, and support each other, not condemn the whole community because one asshole has gone and messed it up. So I go back and say gaming is here to stay I know I am, and everyone is welcome to the club, it’s not members only or you must have a family member in gaming to become a gamer. We are compromised of all different types of people, of all different sexes, agendas, creeds, religions etc. So let us prove the people wrong and stand united as a community, lets not let this petty bullshit rip apart a great community. With that being said I hope that I have not offended anyone and I have inspired you to be the best gamer or blogger that you can be.
Be sure to check out for more updates because September is going to be great with games. We have Destiny coming out beginning of this month, and of course my highly anticipated Hyrule Warriors .
Thanks for your following, I appreciate it, and know I am not going anywhere I am here to stay as long as I can.
